'Tis the season to be jolly ... libertarians! It now appears Ron Paul will place first in the Iowa Caucuses held on the night of January 3rd. Newt Gingrich will place second. Mitt Romney will place third. Rick Perry will place fourth. Ron Paul's Iowa victory doesn't provide many delegates to the Republican National Convention, but it does have enormous impact on the American national dialogue. On the one hand, the movement behind Ron Paul appears somewhat old-line conservative, but on the other hand it contains revolutionary elements. The American War of Independence and establishment of the United States was a wonderful advance in mankind's evolution toward non-coercive political infrastructure. But obviously the American experiment did not finish the job. Mankind still has a way to go to establish full political liberty once and for all time.
