Outlawed probably in the 12th or 13th century, Robin Hood stole from political law makers who were living lavishly, financing programs which rewarded their non-producing friends by heavily taxing actual producers of goods and services. It is said Robin Hood gave the stolen money back to its rightful owners … the producers who had been taxed almost to death.
Now in the 21st century, Barack Obama and his cronies are living lavishly while pushing through programs which reward non-producers by heavily taxing anyone who works hard and produces wealth. Will modern Robin Hoods respond?
If Robin Hood were alive today, would he merrily rob from Barack Obama and those who benefit from government grants? Would Robin Hood see it as no sin to rob from the robbers?
There is inspiration for such a response in modern fiction. In Ayn Rand’s prophetic novel Atlas Shrugged, Ragnar Danneskjöld, like Robin Hood, steals from the government and from those who benefit from collusion with the government … and gives to producers. Danneskjöld's motivation is to restore to creative people the money which was unjustly taken away from them - specifically, their income tax payments.
Although Danneskjöld would surely rob from Obama socialists just as the original Robin Hood robbed from tax collectors, his stated purpose in the novel is to defeat the “Robin Hood concept” as it has wrongly evolved in the popular mind, namely the idea that it’s somehow morally okay to rob from the law-abiding rich as long as you give to the poor.
Edward Hudgins has written of Ayn Rand’s prophetic insight regarding socialist “rob the rich” policies, “She showed that behind such tax policies is envy, that is, resentment against individuals not because of their vices but, rather, their virtues and achievements. The egalitarian perversion of justice sees those who stand out through their own efforts as deserving scorn rather than admiration.”
If modern day Robin Hoods were to become active would they really be criminals? Or would they simply be setting things right? One thing sure, the general public would learn a valuable lesson: Barack Obama is no Robin Hood.
If you are just waking up to your innate libertarian side and want to investigate deeper the underlying nonsense of Obama's religion of government worship, give yourself the pleasure of reading Ayn Rand's epic and masterful novel, Atlas Shrugged
"God's laws will keep your minds at peace, because peace IS His Will, and His laws are established to uphold it. His are the laws of freedom, but yours are the laws of bondage. Since freedom and bondage are irreconcilable, their laws CANNOT BE UNDERSTOOD TOGETHER. The laws of God work only for your good, and there ARE no other laws beside His. Everything else is merely lawLESS, and therefore chaotic." -Jesus Christ in A Course in Miracles

“I did not understand what made me free, nor what my freedom is, nor where to look to find it. Father, I have searched in vain until I heard Your Voice directing me. Now I would guide myself no more. For I have neither made nor understood the way to find my freedom. But I trust in You. You Who endowed me with my freedom as Your holy Son will not be lost to me. Your Voice directs me."
